Yoga for a Woman’s Life©

the perimenopausal and menopausal years.

In January, I  join forces with fellow yoga teacher Liza Keogh and women’s health consultant Alison Bastien, (owner of La Victoriana, anthropologist, midwife and much more) to bring you an intensive 4-week yoga course focused on practices for women ages 35 and beyond.

Yoga for a Woman’s Life’© utilizes specific practices within yoga that have been designed for women’s bodies. Yoga can ameliorate the symptoms of peri-menopause, and help you embrace these changes with knowledge, grace and aplomb. You will learn how to:
  • Relieve common symptoms
  • Balance fluctuating emotional states
  • Maintain fluidity of movement in the body
  • Create strength and keep your structure strong
I am super excited to work with these two women who are both passionate and knowledgeable. I believe our distinct approaches and material will provide you practical tools to enter this phase of your life with knowledge and ease.

Alison Bastien, CPM, was an independent homebirth midwife in Mexico for 12 years. She now teaches classes in midwifery, childbirth education and herbalism, and together with her family runs ‘La Victoriana’, a natural products dispensary and store. She has lived in Mexico over 30 years, and was one of the founders of the MANA Mexican region.

Jennifer Kagan is a certified Iyengar Yoga Instructor at the Jr. 2 level. She is currently one of only 4 teachers in Mexico who hold this level of certification. Iyengar yoga is well known for its therapeutic applications. Geeta Iyengar, the daughter of BKS Iyengar, opened up the world of yoga to women in her seminal book, Yoga: A Gem for Women. It is from her lifetime of work, study and scholarship that asana and pranayama are applied to help a woman in all stages of her life. Guided by this knowledge, Jennifer will impart the multitude of benefits yoga can offer women who are entering peri-menopause or moving through the menopausal years.

Liza Keogh is a Registered Yoga Elder. She holds certifications in Holistic Pelvic Care© and Fascial Fitness; Hatha, Ashtanga, and Prenatal Yoga; and Ayurvedic Massage. For the past 5 years, Liza has been focusing on yoga and women’s health, developing material for classes and workshops related specifically to pelvic health and awareness. It is her belief that when women can navigate their own bodies with greater ease, they often see improvement in pelvic floor-related issues, can more easily access their creative potential, and have a sense of being more intimately rooted in their own being.
